Félix Vega, VMD

Félix Vega, VMD, Consulting Clinical Veterinarian is responsible for the oversight of the clinical teams at ISIS’ Berkeley and San Carlos locations.   With his experience in the medical device industry, as well as in CRO and university settings, Dr. Vega brings a breadth of experience in research and biotechnology to ISIS Services.

Dr. Vega completed his undergraduate work at the University of California at Davis and received his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pennsylvania.

A decade in private practice, Dr. Vega’s emphasis was in the medicine and surgery of exotic animals.  During that time, he also provided clinical care to one of the research facilities for the UCLA School of Medicine.

Dr. Vega joined Berkeley Antibody Company (BAbCO) in the early 1990’s where he was mentored into the field of experimental surgery by ISIS Services' founder, Dr. Jorge L. Garcia.  From BAbCO, Dr. Vega went on to direct the preclinical program of a local start-up device company specializing in collagen-based tissue sealants and adhesives.  That company was then acquired by the BioSurgery division of Baxter Healthcare, where Dr. Vega served as the Director of Medical Affairs, BioSurgery-North America.  In these capacities, Dr. Vega actively participated in the successful submission of multiple successful NDE and 510(k) applications to the FDA, as well as obtaining international regulatory approval and product launches throughout the European and Asian markets. These submissions have ranged from delivery devices through hemostatic and sealant biomaterials, as well as device-biologic combinations.

Dr. Vega has also played a key role in multiple product launches and the development and implementation of training programs for sales and technical personnel as well as surgeons and surgical staff throughout Europe, Japan, Canada and Australia.
